The girls varsity basketball team took a loss when they played Lafayette on Feb. 24 and ended the game 36-46. Throughout this season, they have had 8 wins and 18 losses.
Head Coach Chris Wilkenson said that even though he was not satisfied with the end score, he thought that the kids put their best selves into the game and try their hardest.
“It was a roller coaster of emotions. We fought hard and I was proud of the kids,” Wilkenson said.
Wilkenson went into the game optimistic, he said that he thought that they would win.
“[I was] confident. I thought we would win,” Wilkenson said.

Senior Ryann Harness said that she was proud of how they did, despite their loss.
“We worked hard, but we’ve had a losing streak, so I just didn’t expect to win,” Harness said.
Harness thinks her team’s defense was something they could have improved on to change the outcome of the game.
“I think we probably could have played better defense, but [our offense] was good,” Harness
Wilkenson said that he thinks that they could have shot more.
“[We could have] put the ball into the basket more. We could have rebounded better on both ends,” Wilkenson said.
Wilkenson said that he thinks his team did well and were prepared for the game.
“We had some good practices leading up to the game. We worked and we were prepared,” Wilkenson said.

While reflecting over the game, Harness said that there were some good things that her team did to prepare for the game.
“We did a walk through before [the game] and we learned their plays and how to get around it and that helped us,” Harness said.
The Falcons will advance to the first round of districts on March 6. They are scheduled to compete against Jefferson City High School. Although they have had a few losses this season, they are getting ready for districts.
