The annual Senior Slam took place on May 10, the night of graduation, ending at 3:30 a.m. the next morning. Senior Slam is a event that takes place on Summit’s campus to celebrate the graduating class.
The event was spread throughout the school, with different activities in each area, such as reptiles at the entrance, graduated senior Finnley Free said.
“When you first walked in, you were greeted with some reptiles. They had snakes, and they had two owls, a great horned owl and a barn owl. They [also] had a giant snake probably about the size of my arm or my leg,” Free said.

The animals were only the tip of the iceberg. Graduated senior Mary Corkery said that once inside, there were a plethora of fun things that the graduates could do.
“In the commons they had a DJ and caricature artists, and then, in the gyms they had inflatables, obstacle courses, and they had a scavenger hunt you could do throughout the whole school,” Corkery said.
Free said that one part that she particularly enjoyed was getting caricatures drawn of her, as well as being hypnotized.
“My favorite part was probably the caricature artists. I liked seeing everybody’s [caricatures], and then I liked doing it with other people. I’m an artist, so I’m kind of biased to that, but my second favorite definitely had to be the hypnotist,” Free said.
Similarly to Free, graduated senior Jonah Roberts also enjoyed getting his caricature done, especially with some of the people closest to him.
Not only were there activities for all of the seniors to do, but graduated senior Aliza Carlson said there were also many giveaways and raffles for the graduates to get helpful items for college.
“I received a globe fan and a messenger bag. I thought the giveaways were really nice, they were all things you could definitely use going into post high school life,” Carlson said.
Graduated senior Taylor Gordon said that it was a good experience, and if she could, she would do it again.
“Overall, I would do it again because it was really fun and it was nice to hang out with all my friends after graduation,” Gordon said.
On the other hand, Corkery said that it was a good way to wrap up high school, but she would rather just keep it as a one time memory.
“I want to say [I would do it again], because it was just such a fun time, but I think the good part about senior slam is it’s your last big hurrah, and that’s what makes it so special, so I’m glad it happened, but was our one big goodbye, and I’m just happy with the one time I did it,” Corkery said.
