Gallery: Sarah Moonier wins Teacher of the Year

Teacher of the Year winner Sarah Moonier laughs with building principal Dr. Emily McCown after winning the award. This marks Moonier’s second Teacher of the Year award, her first one being in the 2013-2014 school year. “I was really surprised [to win]. I kind of teared up a little bit because I didn’t honestly expect to win. I have had it before, and no one else has, so I just didn’t really think it was gonna happen. I was just really shocked, and then after that, I just felt really happy,” Moonier said.

Science teacher Sarah Moonier reacts emotionally as her daughter, sophomore Katie Moonier, announces that she won Teacher of the Year. Moonier shared how special it was to have Katie help share the news. “It was really cool that my daughter got to be a part of it. When you’re a teacher and your kid is in the building, it’s a really special time as a teacher. You get to share so many experiences with your kid and see them grow up and everything, and so to be able to have her be a part of that, I know it’s gonna be a good core memory,” Moonier said.
