Since the beginning of time, humans have constantly evolved and bettered themselves in various skills, but all improvements can be drawn back to one thing: education. Education not just being a higher level of schooling, simply a desire to keep learning. By continuing to learn, you are setting yourself up for a life of curiosity and constant improvement.
Even if you’re not one of the 54.9% of Americans who pursue a higher education according to the United States Census Bureau, staying curious is one of the most important things you can do for your future self. Being inquisitive about the world allows you to connect with those around you, creating relationships and learning new information that you would have never known. Growing up, students are taught to learn a new thing each day. This information, while annoying to hear as a teenager, is exactly what our world needs: citizens who are actively working to improve themselves and those around them with information. In order to grow, new concepts and opinions must be introduced to a person. Not only do the ideas need to be introduced, but when encountering a new notion, it is critical to at least listen to the information. Even if the information is something that goes against your beliefs, the facts will help you to continue bettering yourself. Being flexible also plays a role in evolving, so you must be open to a new way of thinking in pursuit of growing yourself.
The natural human response to differences is to shut down, ignoring the opportunity for growth. The Talon staff believes that information, the backbone of society, is critical to the growth of our world and its citizens.
