Malt shop opens for the 2024 season

The Malt Shop opened back up for its 2024 season on Feb 23rd after closing on Dec 3, 2023.

Owner Bart Castelli, says opening weekend went good for the employees but a few machines needed work done on them.

Opening weekend went well. We were really busy. Unfortunately, we had some major repairs on a couple of our machines but other than that, the kids were excited to be back to work,” Castelli said.

Junior Claire Doyle, who works at the Malt Shop said she is excited for another long work season.

“I’m happy to get back to work and to be with all the other employees and to make money,” Doyle said.

Frequent customer and senior, Matt Brandon said he is excited to get his go-to ice cream and food again.

“I try to go at least four times a week and I always get a chocolate shake with fries,” Brandon said.

The Malt Shop has various options for customers from ice cream to food which allows for business even in colder weather.

Castelli said with the weather being unpredictable they still plan to be open during those times.“Since we live in St. Louis, you never know what the weather is going to be like. It has snowed in April here before. If it does we will still be open,” Castelli said.

Castelli said they plan to close in the beginning of  December again, allowing for a long ice cream season.
