Top 5 facts you need to know about Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE)

1. President Donald Trump declared a state of emergency on our southern border. Declaring a state of emergency allows the president to bypass Congress in many ways and create laws unilaterally.

2. The Trump administration has ramped up illegal immigrant deportation. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is attempting to deport 3,000 people a day.

3. Missouri Governor Mike Kehoe authorized the Missouri national guard to assist ICE units in the states with administrative and logistical support starting Oct. 1, 2025, and ending Sept. 30, 2026.

4. Wide scale protests and riots have broken out in major cities protesting the Trump administration’s policies. President Trump has deployed National Guard troops to stop the protest. Violence between law enforcement and protesters has been reported.

5. The proposed refugee cap for the 2026 fiscal year is 7,500 people, which is a strong juxtaposition from the 2025 refugee cap of 125,000.
