Staff engages in new Wellness Wednesdays

To encourage faculty and staff to interact more, Language Arts teacher Jennifer Perone created Wellness Wednesdays. These social events occur once a month after school and give the staff opportunities to socialize outside of the school day.
Perone said she started Wellness Wednesdays because she believes the staff should get together more since they have little time to communicate with each other during the school day.
¨We don’t get the opportunity to see each other anymore except for once-a-month little meetings and we don’t really get the chance to talk. It was a way for us to learn a little bit and pull knowledge from people that we have here, that have a skill or have something that they want to share or do, and then just the chance to see each other,” Perone said.
Perone did a small test group on Feb. 26 where she arranged a baker to come and teach how to make sourdough bread. For the next Wellness Wednesdays, there will be an exercise class called Sculpt in March led by math teacher Jamie Robertson, and then Secretary Pamela. Wiseman is helping teach how to make a welcome door sign in April.
Robertson said she already planned the agenda for the class she is leading.
¨[The class is] called Sculpt; we will do arm work, glute work, abdominal work, and then we will do a stretch at the end,¨ Robertson said.
Robertson said she is hoping the staff that attends the event has a worry-free experience.
¨I hope they get a good workout and hopefully a little stress relief,¨ Robertson said.
