Sophomore Emerson Mantz explains how the field hockey team season has been and her personal experience this year.
Q:What position do you play on field hockey?
A: “I play defensive [midfield].”
Q: What does that position entail?
A: “You’re more in the middle so you can play a little offensive, but really you’re staying back and helping the defense so that you can still help and play the ball up.”
Q: How has your season been going so far?
A: “It’s been going great, we have been doing really well. We [had] our first loss last night [add date], which is a little upsetting, but it’s fine because we have been doing great this season, and I love the team.”
Q: What do you think your team has to improve on?
A: “I think, if anything, [we struggle with] communication sometimes. I think that is our big thing. Whenever we’re out there, we talk so much off the field, I think on the field we talk a lot less. But that’s our only thing [that needs improvement].”
Q: How have the past 2 years on the team been?
A: “I love it. I love field hockey, it’s my favorite sport. It’s been my favorite high school sport that I’ve played. [It’s] a great [group]. I like the coaches. I love the players, so it’s just great.”
