In the past few years, the girls swim team has not had any divers, but the 2025-2026 team has new additions to their roster as freshman Amber Carver and sophomore Maddy Kahle joined to become divers.
Carver said that being an underclassman without any upperclassmen divers hasn’t affected her.
“There aren’t many people on the swim team anyways, so it hasn’t made it more difficult and I have my coach to help me,” Carver said.
This is Kahle’s first year diving, and she said that she wanted to join to become more involved at Summit.
“I thought [diving] would get me out of the house more, get me involved in school more, and take up more of my free time,” Kahle said.
Kahle said that the thing she finds most challenging about diving is getting over her fears.
“Getting over the part of not going for skills is definitely challenging for me, but also having the correct form in all of my dives,” Kahle said.
