When walking into first hour, more times than not, you’ll see two to three caffeinated beverages in a classroom. Energy drinks are seen as a daily staple for some, while others see concerns in them.
Junior Elena Grasso has stopped consuming energy drinks because she recognized health concerns.
“I used to have an Alani [Nu] or Bloom energy drink every day, [but] I quit them a few months ago because I knew they weren’t good for me,” Grasso said.
Sophomore Cooper Stratton says he is an avid consumer of energy drinks, but has a preference.

“I drink at least one energy drink a day. My favorite energy drink is the Ultra Hawaiian Blue Monster,” Stratton said.
Grasso drinks coffee as a substitute for energy drinks and has lowered her energy drink intake.
“I drink coffee or I’ll have an energy drink every now and then, or I won’t drink the whole thing. I definitely drink way less now and it’s way better for my health. It also helps me save money because I’m not going to [QuickTrip] everyday,” Grasso said.
Stratton says that he doesn’t drink other substitutes for energy drinks knowing the effects energy drinks might have.
“[Energy drinks and coffee] both have their ups and downs; coffee doesn’t taste good, but energy drinks have chemicals in them,” Stratton said.
